About OCD & Symptoms
Obsessive compulsive disorder, most commonly known as OCD is an anxiety disorder that is distinguished by excessive obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are recurring unwanted thoughts, impulses or images while compulsions are redundant behavioural and psychological rituals. OCD sufferers are usually aware that their symptoms are irrational but they find the obsessions uncontrollable and compulsions difficult or impossible to resist. (Sane, 2014). BeyondBlue (2015) states that some of the signs and symptoms of OCD include obsessive cleanliness/order, repeatedly counting/hoarding items or objects, obsessive safety/checking, sexual issues and religious/moral issues.
